SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 14, 2012) - Parking pioneer Douglas Parking has partnered with QuickPay Corp., a premier mobile payment platform provider, to deploy new payment options and value-added services such as premium parking spaces and loyalty programs across its parking locations. With QuickPay, Douglas customers can pay for parking with their mobile phones using the free QP QuickPay™ smartphone app available for iPhone® and Android™, or by SMS text or voice.
Family-owned Douglas Parking was founded in 1930 in Oakland, Calif. Ten years ago Douglas became the first parking company in the U.S. to offer a pay-by-phone service, at the time via interactive voice response (IVR). In 2010 the company was introduced to the QP QuickPay mobile parking payment service and began to offer the convenient option to customers at several of its Oakland parking locations. Based on positive customer adoption and feedback, Douglas went on to make QP QuickPay available across most of its Bay Area locations -- including off-street, gated, ungated, attended, unattended, and off-airport facilities -- along with locations in Denver and most recently Las Vegas. Today the QP QuickPay service is available at close to 60 Douglas Parking facilities in eight cities representing over 3,000 spaces.
"Our customers love QP QuickPay!" said David Douglas, Partner, Douglas Parking. "We've seen strong adoption rates -- in some locations upwards of 40 percent -- for mobile payments with QP QuickPay. Customer adoption drives customer retention, a key to success in parking operations."
As QuickPay's flagship customer, Douglas has been actively involved in piloting new features and providing feedback to help guide product development. For example, Douglas Parking reserves premier parking spaces in select lots for patrons that pay with QP QuickPay and will soon launch a loyalty program enabled by the QP QuickPay system. From an operational perspective, mobile payments help reduce cash transactions and minimize losses resulting from cash transactions.
"One of the most innovative parking operators in the country has partnered with us to provide a valuable service to their clients and augment their own operations," said Carl Muirbrook, Founder and President, QuickPay Corp. "They have been instrumental in helping us refine and deliver a differentiated mobile parking payment solution for their customers."
