Duran Acquires the Smoky Valley Uranium Project

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 4, 2005) - George A. Brown, President and CEO of Duran Ventures Inc. (NEX:DRV.H)("Duran"), is pleased to announce that the Company has acquired by staking 40 Lode Mining Claims in Nye County, Nevada. The claims were filed with the United States Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management ("BLM") and receipted by the Nye County Recorder in July 2005.

The claims cover an area of interest that is 6,000 feet by 6,000 feet. The claims were selected by our Vice President, David Bending, P.Geo. and a Qualified Person under National Instrument 43-101. The prospect area was identified as being of interest to the Company due to published results of a stream sediment survey for Uranium by the United States Geological Survey.

Planned work will consist of a reconnaissance geological examination and completion of a 10 U/Th spectrometer profile with approximate 250 meter spacing, using a Magellan hand held GPS with WAAS capabilities for spacial control with field accuracy in this area of 1 to 2 meters. The total survey will be approximately 50 line km. This survey is scheduled for October 2005. Further work will be based upon the initial results. The survey crew may opt, based on the results obtained in the survey profiles, to collect a series of soil sample lines in such areas which are considered to be of interest.

Duran Ventures is earning a 50% interest in the Aguila Project which is a Copper Molybdenum Porphyry Target in Peru and also has an option to earn in on the Black Mountain Gold Mine in China.
