Duran Increases Management Depth

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 1, 2009) - Duran Ventures Inc. (TSX VENTURE:DRV) is very pleased to announce that the Board has appointed Mr. Jeffrey Reeder as Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Dan Hamilton as Chief Financial Officer effective immediately.

Mr. Reeder continues to be a director of Duran since July 2006. Mr. Reeder completed a Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Alberta and has been registered since 1992 with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia which qualifies Mr. Reeder as a Qualified Person as defined in National Policy 43-101. Mr. Reeder is the geologist that originally identified and acquired the Aguila Copper-Moly Project in Peru for Duran Resources ULC (formerly MacMillan Gold Corp.). Mr. Reeder has 15 years of experience in Peru and is fluent in Spanish. Mr. Reeder's experiences prior to joining MacMillan Gold included working with Noranda Exploration and the Hunter-Dickenson Group of Companies.

Mr. Hamilton has 25 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance roles. Mr. Hamilton has completed a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Administration at the University of Ottawa. Mr. Hamilton worked for several Chartered Accounting firms including Stern Cohen, Clarkson Gordon, and Arthur Young of Australia. Mr. Hamilton's many years of mining and exploration experience was accumulated from working for Noranda Minerals Inc., Noranda Inc., Agra Monenco Inc., AMEC Inc., and Chrystallex International. Mr. Hamilton is experienced at performing public reporting for junior resource companies such as Cuervo Resources Inc. and Amerix Precious Metals Corporation.

Mr. Cary Pothorin was re-affirmed as President. Mr. Pothorin completed a Bachelor of Science in Geology at the University of Alberta and is registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia which qualifies Mr. Pothorin as a Qualified Person as defined in National Policy 43-101. Mr. Pothorin also received a Business Administration Diploma from Camosum College in Victoria, B.C. Mr. Pothorin has numerous years working experience in Peru and is fluent in Spanish.

Ms. Carmen Yuen was re-affirmed as Treasurer and Corporate Secretary. Ms. Yuen completed a Bachelors of Commerce specializing in Finance at the University of Toronto. Ms. Yuen has also completed her exams to qualify as a Certified Public Accountant and awaits her certification.

Mr. Jose Juan Ari is the General Manager of Minera Aguila de Oro SAC in Peru. Mr. Ari is an extremely experienced lawyer in Peru.

Mr. Joseph Del Campo, CMA, is a graduate of Ryerson Polytechnical Institute of Toronto and has been a director since July 2006. Mr. Del Campo is Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Mr. John P. Thompson, P.Eng., (Geology) has a Bachalor of Science and a Master of Science from Acadia University in Nova Scotia and has been a director since June 2006. Mr. Thompson has over 30 years international exploration experience and is Chairman of the Technical Committee.

The Company would also like to thank Mr. George A. Brown for his years of service to Duran since June 2003. As President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Brown was responsible for optioning the original Peru properties, earning a 50% interest on them, and then completing the Amalgamation in October 2008 which resulted in Duran owning a 100% interest. Mr. Brown has agreed to continue to offer his assistance to the Company in a consulting capacity.

Duran Ventures is a junior exploration company working to advance and develop the Aguila Copper-Moly Project to a 43-101 compliant resource while continuing to actively evaluate new prospects and targets throughout Peru.
