Dylan Amsterdam's Restaurant Enjoys Sweet Taste of Success

AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 8, 2006 -- Fresh off the heels of a multi-million-dollar restoration, Amsterdam's 41-room historic Dylan Hotel is celebrating yet another milestone. The hotel's luxurious dining outlet, The Dylan Restaurant, has received high ratings in the most recent edition of Gault Millau's "Travel Guide for Gourmets" (2007), often described as the pinnacle of serious, honest and professional multi-media resources on dining and travel for an international audience in search of the best.

The Restaurant's cuisine received a total of 16 points out of a maximum score of 19.5 from the Gault Millau tasting team. A second and equally impressive score of 16 was awarded to The Restaurant's wine list, which was judged 'excellent' and said to be a perfect marriage between food and wine.

The Dylan Amsterdam Hotel's intimate eatery features innovative contemporary French cuisine, and is served under the culinary direction of Dennis Kuipers, who was appointed Executive Chef earlier this year.

The property's rich history was painstakingly preserved in the Dylan's recent renovation. Originally built in the 16th Century as the first theatre in Benelux, it eventually became a "poor house" (from 1787-1811) with ovens that baked bread for the poor who lined up in the hotel's long gallery. During the restoration, an original panel was uncovered which once decorated the old theater depicting an actor in costume. Today the panel proudly hangs in The Restaurant, alongside a brick wall housing the bakery's original ovens.

Echoing the "Dutch Golden Age" décor of the hotel, Executive Chef Dennis Kuipers' Restaurant menu combines traditional and modern, and reflects his love of traditional French cooking. Signature delicacies include Roast Anjou Pigeon with Five Spices; Mousse of Bitter Caribe Chocolate; Coffee Couscous with Marinated Mango, and Mascarpone Sorbet -- tastes that are truly delicious and unique.

Listed among the city's most stylish and intimate hotels, and a member of the prestigious Small Luxury Hotels of the World, The Dylan (formerly Blakes) is located in an exceptional 17th Century landmark on Keizersgracht, one of the city's famous and picturesque canals. An unparalleled marriage of historic old and cutting-edge new, The Dylan offers chic modern décor set against a backdrop of Dutch Golden Age architecture, along with top-notch service and amenities.
