BUFFALO, NY--(Marketwire - January 21, 2010) - Ecology and
Environment, Inc. (NASDAQ : EEI ) was recently awarded a new five-year
contract to provide petroleum cleanup management services for Florida's
Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
Ecology and Environment's Petroleum Cleanup "Team 6" Office is based in
Tallahassee, Florida. This contract represents Team 6's 10th year as a
management support contract office. Under this new contract the team will
continue to provide the petroleum cleanup management services.
Ecology and Environment's Team 6 will provide technical and support staff
to assist the DEP in management and oversight of the cleanup of petroleum
contamination in accordance with DEP rules and guidance and Florida law.
Work under the contract includes negotiation of cleanup costs and scopes of
work; review, comment, and approval of technical reports; approval of
payment to cleanup contractors; and many other routine and specialized
services.
The Florida DEP manages a trust fund with an annual budget in excess of 100
million dollars for the cleanup of petroleum contamination from leaking
storage tanks. Funding for the cleanup program is contingent upon annual
appropriations from the state legislature. The contract does not have a
cap, and the actual dollar value will be dependent on the program needs of
the DEP, which are driven by annual legislative appropriations.
"We're very pleased to have this new contract with the DEP, as our Team 6
provides integral support in the cleanup of petroleum contamination in the
state of Florida," noted Kevin Neumaier, E & E's president and CEO.
The contract begins in February 2010 and includes a mutual option for a
five-year renewal in 2015.
