ECG Management Consultants, Inc. Announces the Commencement of the 2010 "National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production, and Benefits Survey"

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - January 21, 2010) - ECG Management Consultants, Inc., one of the nation's premier healthcare management consulting firms, today announced the commencement of the "National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production, and Benefits Survey," year 2010 based on 2009 data. This is the fourth annual pediatric subspecialty survey conducted by ECG, and the survey is emerging as a valuable and respected resource for pediatric physician performance benchmarks in the industry.

ECG has invited children's hospitals and pediatric organizations from around the nation to participate in this important study. The survey has been designed to balance the complexities of the tripartite mission of academic medical centers with nonacademic settings that employ pediatric subspecialists. The survey comprises critical data such as detailed, market-specific physician and midlevel provider compensation and production data, including provider benefit packages, recruiting efforts and signing bonuses by specialty, specialty-specific call coverage payments, malpractice premiums by specialty, and much more. The 2010 pediatric survey brochure provides additional information including our approach, reasons to participate, past participants, and a list of key benchmarks that will result from this survey.

The pediatric survey provides participants with benchmarks for pediatric subspecialties that are typically not available or are based on adjusting adult standards, including benchmarks for surgical and hospital-based pediatric subspecialties. The 2009 survey included pediatric subspecialist data from 28 organizations, compared to 24 in the 2008 survey, which is a testament to the quality and value of the survey data and the information it provides to participating organizations. Data was reported for nearly 2,000 pediatric medicine, surgical, and hospital-based providers in 41 subspecialties.

ECG conducts a number of specialty-specific compensation and production studies, including studies in the Northwest (in its eleventh year), Midwest (in its sixth year), and Florida (in its first year). In addition, ECG conducts many other one-off studies in conjunction with organizations such as the American Medical Group Association (AMGA) and Thomson Reuters. ECG enjoys the support of many respected organizations across our survey products. This support is demonstrated in the following comments made by our past survey participants:

ECG's "National Pediatric Subspecialty Physician Compensation, Production,
and Benefits Survey" has provided us with the benchmarks we need to
successfully recruit and retain pediatric subspecialists. ECG's in-depth
understanding of the pediatric provider market and children's hospitals
operations has given us the confidence we need to utilize the survey's
benchmarks.
Mr. Juan R. Gonzalez-Barroso, M.B.A., M.H.C.
Vice President of Professional Services
Miami Children's Hospital, Miami, Florida

ECG's commitment to quality is reflected in the Northwest survey. We have
been a participant in the survey since its initiation in 2000 and rely on
the complete and comprehensive information it provides to assess our
competitiveness. I encourage all of our peer organizations to participate
in the Northwest survey and believe other markets would benefit from
working with ECG to customize a survey in their local market.
Mr. Richard H. Cooper
Chief Executive Officer
The Everett Clinic, Everett, Washington

The "added value" of ECG's Midwest survey is the additional insight it
provides on physician compensation trends in my region. The quality of
data is above and beyond the national surveys, and it also offers more
in-depth information regarding physician performance trends. It has given
our medical groups a more thorough understanding of both Illinois and
regional factors impacting our physician practices.
Mr. Stephen R. Voss
Vice President of Finance
Advocate Medical Group, Oak Brook, Illinois

Electronic survey instruments are being distributed in February with submissions accepted through March. The final survey report is only available to participants.
