ON HUNDREDS OF BILLBOARDS ACROSS ONTARIO Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor TORONTO/ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - March 31, 2005) - The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO), has rented space on over two hundred billboards across Ontario to support their work-to-rule campaign for more preparation time.

Beginning next week the elementary teachers will announce new work-to-rule actions to back the demand on the billboards for improvements to their working conditions.

Chief among the bargaining demands is the implementation of two hundred minutes of negotiated preparation time for every elementary teacher in Ontario. To back the demands for improved working conditions, the teachers began a work-to-rule in thirty school boards during the month of March.

Elementary teachers have been without a contract since August 31, 2004 and have been attempting to negotiate improvements to their working conditions since bargaining began for new collective agreements in the fall.

Billboards carrying the 'Campaign 200' logo and the slogan, "It's About Time", have been posted in Barrie, Orillia, Central Ontario, Cornwall, Hamilton, Burlington, Kingston, Belleville, Brockville & District, Kitchener-Waterloo & District, London & District, Ottawa & District, Owen Sound, Collingwood & District, Pembroke & District, Peterborough, Lindsay & District, St. Catherines, Niagara, Sarnia, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, North Bay, Thunder Bay, Timmins & District, Toronto & GTA, Windsor, Chatham & District and Woodstock. The billboards will remain posted at most sites for a month as the elementary teachers continue negotiations.

For comment on negotiations across the province on Campaign 200, contact President Emily Noble at 416-948-1480. For a PDF graphic of the billboard image or a list of sites where billboards may be photographed locally, contact Harold Vigoda at the ETFO office or on cell.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 65,000 public elementary school teachers and education workers across Ontario and is the largest elementary federation in Canada outside of Quebec.
