ETFO NEWSLETTER EDITOR'S AWARD FOR THAMES VALLEY TEACHER LOCAL PRESIDENT Attention: Assignment Editor, City Editor, Education Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Aug. 16, 2005) -

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO) today presented Phillip Mack, president of the Thames Valley Teacher Local, with the Newsletter Editor's Award (single-sheet publication) at its Annual Meeting in Toronto.

The award recognizes the outstanding work done by editors of local ETFO newsletters. The criteria for the award include the content, quality, and general overall appearance of the newsletter. Mack received the single-sheet category award for the publication, ETFO INFO.

"The newsletter, which is published five times a year and distributed to all members of the local, is founded on the principle that frequent communication is crucial to the goal of having teachers strongly identify with ETFO," said Emily Noble, ETFO President.

"To this end, ETFO INFO keeps members appraised of professional development opportunities, membership protection advice, social events, terms of the collective agreement, and pension issues - in short, news and information that connect members to their colleagues, their profession, and their union," she said.

The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario represents 65,000 elementary public school teachers and education workers across Ontario and is the largest teacher union in Canada outside of Quebec.
