Eco-Friendly Rebagz™ Creator Marty Stevens-Heebner Launches "Manufacturing the Right Way" to Help Others Turn Product Ideas Into Profitable Realities

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 22, 2009) - Award-winning eco-designer and maverick manufacturing expert Marty Stevens-Heebner is helping women entrepreneurs attain the same success she has achieved by teaching them how to transform their product ideas into profitable realities. "But I want entrepreneurs to realize that going the eco- and human-friendly route is as good for their bottom line as it is for people and the planet," says Stevens-Heebner. "My Rebagz Handbags line is a good example of that. What sustained us through this past year was our sustainability, and I think it's important for everyone in business to know that." Through Manufacturing the Right Way, the new consulting division of Half the Sky Designs LLC, Stevens-Heebner breaks down the manufacturing process into a step-by-step system via her audio programs, e-books, teleseminars and private consulting.

Stevens-Heebner's popular Rebagz Eco-Chic Handbag line was launched in July 2007 and is already sold in 400 stores in four countries. All the handbags are made under fair labor conditions in the Philippines, and her line has been featured in dozens of magazines and newspapers, as well as on hit TV shows and on QVC. From a manufacturing standpoint, creating and launching her stylish line made from recycled juice packs and rice sacks was no easy task. "I made so many mistakes," explains Stevens-Heebner. "And it seems silly to me that anyone else should have to waste their time and money making those same mistakes all over again."

What motivated Stevens-Heebner to launch Manufacturing the Right Way? "I kept meeting really smart women with great product ideas, but they were too scared to move forward," she says. "I want to give them the tools and confidence they need to transform their hobby or idea into a thriving business. There's a saying: 'A rising tide raises all ships.' I want them to enjoy the same kind of success I've achieved. It's much more fun that way! And if I can get them to use eco-friendly materials and fair labor practices, so much the better."

Through this new venture and her system, the Half the Sky Designs founder shows people how to save time and money as they create, launch and position their dream product for sustained success. "One of the most important things," says Stevens-Heebner, "is that you need to know who you're going to sell to before you make the product, not when you're about to launch it."

"Women now control $12 trillion of the overall $18.4 trillion in global consumer spending," according to The Boston Consulting Group's Michael Silverstein's and Kate Sayre's new book, "Women Want More: How to Capture Your Share of the World's Largest, Fastest-Growing Market." This is one of the reasons Stevens-Heebner focuses on entrepreneurs who want to create products, like handbags, accessories and beauty products, which are designed for the female market.

Stevens-Heebner's special audio program and report "The 5 Most Costly Mistakes People Make When Manufacturing Overseas (And How to Avoid Them)" is available for free on www.ManufacturingTheRightWay.com. In it, Stevens-Heebner points out how things such as careless communication and quality control can be extremely costly for people making their products. "A lot of people also don't pay attention to all the little odds and ends -- like labels and packaging -- that can make their product costs stack up. Not a good thing!" she says. In the report, she also points out how making sure your workers are taken care of not only makes you feel good, but it also attracts customers who are concerned about how their products are made.

Stevens-Heebner created "Taking the 'Man' Out of Manufacturing: The Top Ten Things Women Need to Know to Successfully Create Your Product," an in-depth program comprised of an audio program and e-book. In this program and through her one-on-one consulting, Stevens-Heebner teaches business owners to streamline their product's path from concept to profitable reality via her step-by-step system. She provides entrepreneurs with:

-- research tools to identify who they will sell their product to before
    they create it;
-- information on eco- and human-friendly alternatives to create their
    product and set up their business;
--  the means to set up and calculate costs correctly;
-- plus many other problem-solving tips and resources.

Stevens-Heebner is hosting a series of free calls about the various aspects of product creation, beginning with, "How to Sell Your Products and Make Big Profits on TV Home Shopping Networks Like QVC & HSN," with guest Diana Urbine, a TV and home shopping on-air personality. It will take place on October 27, at 5 pm Pacific/8 pm Eastern. You can register for this call at www.ManufacturingTheRightWay.com.
