Eco Gift Expo -- December 15 and 16

First Large-Scale Green Shopping Event Provides Gifts for Everyone on Your List

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2007) - This holiday season, going green will be easy for Angelenos who attend the Eco Gift Expo on Saturday, December 15 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 16 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium in Santa Monica, Calif., where 150 companies will sell high-quality, eco-friendly gifts for everyone.

Marketing expert Tommy Rosen founded the Eco Gift Expo to address the inconveniences, difficult emotions and incredible waste associated with the holidays and holiday shopping. "The holidays are meant to be a time of giving, receiving and connecting with each other," said Rosen, "but most folks seem to be stressed and depressed around this time of year. The Eco Gift Expo will be a wonderful place where people can connect with eco-conscious companies and buy unique, elegant, sophisticated gifts, which add value to our lives -- whether it is a unique piece of jewelry, stylish eco clothing, natural cosmetics or a skateboard made of bamboo. We are creating a great shopping experience that involves less stress, less waste and more enjoyment. That is the Eco Gift Expo proposition." Rosen, who credits his staff and advisory board for making it all possible, carefully evaluates each vendor for product quality and to ensure that companies are aligned with values of sustainability. There will be information at each booth explaining how the vendor's products or company are green, and tips on how to go green will be posted throughout the venue.

To create a festive atmosphere, waiters will hand out organic chocolates; magicians and jugglers will keep kids amused; and music will be provided by a variety of minstrels, including guitarists, a barbershop quartet, a marching band and more. Hungry shoppers can visit the organic food court, which will include high-quality vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine from around the globe. Gift wrapping will be provided courtesy of the Los Angeles Times, which will put old newspapers to good use with a decorative flair. Each day of the expo, the first 750 people through the doors will receive gift bags filled with eco-friendly products and samples.

The Eco Gift Expo has created a pioneering philanthropy program. Rather than taking a percentage of vendors' sales, as most gift shows do, Rosen is encouraging vendors to donate 10 percent of their sales to Global Green USA, a national environmental organization addressing some of the greatest challenges facing humanity; and The Whole Planet Foundation, which helps impoverished individuals to create sustainable businesses through micro-finance programs. Vendors who choose to participate will have presence in "The Book of Giving and Receiving," a coupon book that will be given to all shoppers as they arrive. Eco Gift Expo is also donating 10 percent of its gross proceeds from the event to these same organizations.

Seven Star Events will handle the physical production and greening of the event, implementing a cutting-edge program in which approximately 90 percent of waste will be diverted away from landfills through recycling and composting. In addition, Eco Gift Expo will calculate and offset the total carbon footprint of the event including the emissions created by attendees.

Tickets to the expo go on sale on October 16 at and are $10 online, $15 at the door. Children under 12 admitted at no charge. The Santa Monica Civic Auditorium is located at 1855 Main Street in Santa Monica, Calif. Parking is $8 at the center or close to free at nearby city lots.
