Elections Canada: Advance Voting Begins Friday

Advance polls open for voting in the federal by-elections on Friday, Saturday and Monday

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 28, 2009) -

- Advance voting for the federal by-elections in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley (Nova Scotia), Hochelaga (Quebec), Montmagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Riviere-du-Loup (Quebec) and New Westminster-Coquitlam (British Columbia) begins Friday, October 30, and continues Saturday, October 31, and Monday, November 2.

- Advance polls are open from noon to 8:00 p.m. (local time).

- Electors can find the address of their advance poll location on the back of the voter information card mailed to them by Elections Canada.

- Electors who did not receive a voter information card or who received one with incorrect information may use the Voter Information Service at www.elections.ca or contact their local Elections Canada office:

- Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley

- Hochelaga

- Montmagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Riviere-du-Loup

- New Westminster-Coquitlam

"It's simple and easy to vote on any one of three advance voting days," says Chief Electoral Officer Marc Mayrand. "It takes most voters only a few minutes to cast their ballot. If you are not already on the list of electors, you may register to vote at your advance polling station, provided you bring approved identification."
