Electronic Recycling Association: Red Cross Needs Your
Old Computer and Telecom Equipment for Disaster Relief
Efforts

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 4, 2005) - Electronic Recycling
Association of Alberta is collecting old computer and telecom equipment
for a project for the Red Cross, as well as other worldwide projects.

Red Cross helps people throughout the world in cases of emergency or
disaster. When there is a relief effort, as in the case of the forest
fires in BC, the Red Cross is always there providing support and help.

One type of support the Red Cross offers is it's emergency call centers,
which consist of around 50 people, with all kinds of computer,
networking and telecom equipment called mobile offices. Laptops, cell
phones, telephones, telephone systems and networking equipment to
connect everyone together, are used at various disaster relief sites.

Currently the Electronic Recycling Association of Alberta is sourcing
older laptops, all kinds of networking components, telephone systems and
telephones to give to the Red Cross, and enable them to setup several of
these emergency call centers.

Any companies, organizations, or government departments with older
computer and electronic equipment can call the ERA and request a free
pickup of items they wish to donate. The ERA will also collect other
equipment such as monitors, printers, and keyboards for many of its
other programs or for recycling.

One of those programs is a joint program with the government of
Commonwealth of Dominica, aimed at providing upwards of 20,000 students
with computer equipment.

For a complete list of wanted equipment please check ERA's website at
www.era.ca.
