Enersource Corporation Announces Changes to Board of Directors

MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 17, 2007) -

Attention News Editors:

Norman Loberg has been named Chair of a newly restructured Enersource Corporation Board of Directors, which held its first meeting this week following a recent decision by City of Mississauga Council to review representation on the Board. The new 10-member public-private Board of Directors includes four elected members of City Council, four appointed citizen members and two members representing private shareholder BPC Energy Corporation (Borealis), a subsidiary of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS).

Members of the new Enersource Board of Directors include Michael Nobrega and Robert Watters representing OMERS, City of Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion, Councillor Carmen Corbasson, Councillor Sue McFadden and Councillor Nando Iannicca, returning city-appointed citizen board members Gerald Beasley and Norman Loberg, and new citizen board members Robert MacCallum and Hasan Imam.

"It is an honour to be elected to serve as Chair of this dynamic corporation and important institution serving the citizens of Mississauga," said new Enersource Chair Norman Loberg. "I look forward to continued growth, innovation and exceptional customer service as we pursue opportunities in this evolving electricity sector."

In his role, Mr. Loberg assumes leadership responsibility for overseeing the strategic direction of the business activities of Enersource Hydro Mississauga, one of Ontario's largest regulated electricity distribution companies. He will also lead the board in carrying out its mandate to consider other related opportunities that Enersource may develop within separate non-regulated subsidiaries.

In January 2001, after the commercial restructuring of the electricity distribution sector, Enersource Corporation held its inaugural Board of Directors meeting electing Alex Taylor as the first Chair of the incorporated energy company. Mr. Taylor served two terms as Chair of this Board, successfully guiding the utility through the opening of Ontario's competitive electricity market in May 2002, overseeing record safety and reliability levels, low electricity rates and steady growth.

"Mr. Loberg has been with our Board since its inception. He brings continuity to our strategic interests and a wealth of expertise from his distinguished 40-year career in the energy and utility service industries," said Gunars Ceksters President and CEO of Enersource Corporation. "His leadership and the diverse talents of our new Board of Directors are essential at this time as we explore future business opportunities and develop new services for our customers in this complex electricity market."

Enersource Corporation is a diversified energy and technologies company focusing on quality of service with the distribution of electricity, the promotion and delivery of electricity conservation programs and smart metering solutions to meet government objectives, and increasing involvement in distributed generation to enhance the provincial electricity supply. The Corporation is 90% owned by the City of Mississauga, and 10% owned by BPC Energy Corporation (Borealis), a subsidiary of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System.
