England Rugby Union International Dan Hipkiss is to share the secrets of his sporting success with a view to inspiring commercial growth through the adoption of best practice in a business context, to a cross section of the business community at a number of events to mark the launch of the Competitive Arena Academy (CAA).

Specifically, these events will cover areas such as optimising individual and organisational effectiveness in developing and sustaining client relationships and how to move from transactional to relationship-based contact with customers.

The events, titled: Business Development; Enhancing client relationship management skills through a sporting perspective, will take place on Tuesday 23rd March 2010 & Thursday 25th March 2010 in Leicester, the home of Dan's club team, Leicester Tigers. Chris Hipkiss, Dan's father and a consultant on needs-based training solutions, will also draw on his 20 year experience and unique perspective on both the sporting and commercial environments.

Presented by David McWhir of CVL Training, the Competitive Arena Academy (CAA) has been created to share the understanding of a number of core aspects of business development, through direct correlation between a world-class sporting environment with business.

Dan Hipkiss said:

"There are so many highly relevant analogies between the sporting and business worlds. For example, elite rugby players are encouraged to adopt an analytical framework of a given situation through breaking it into sub components – which carries through into business and can provide significant insight into something relatively mundane yet business-critical, such as improving one-to-one client meetings.

"Similarly a number of key interactions can be analysed and therefore better understood – the set piece in rugby is another great example and correlates closely to the preparation and execution of client pitches and presentations."

David McWhir of CVL Training, added:

"Dan's professionalism and commitment to training and performance improvement are well known in sporting circles. Moreover, he has a wealth of highly-transferable best practice at his fingertips which will be invaluable for businesses, doubtless presenting not only food for thought but a number of tangible means of improving customer interactions which can be introduced by attendees on a day-to-day basis."

David McWhir also recently founded Business Bounceback, a collective of like-minded, results-orientated successful business owners that offer the skills needed to reposition and reconfigure for the post-recession upturn - comprising training, marketing & strategy, IT & information system consultancy, personal and team brand image presentation, a PR agency and event management.
