4:00pm to 5:30pm (Speakers at 4:30pm)

enp is launching the web site www.enterprisingnonprofits.ca to serve as a resource centre and has recently published the Canadian Guide to Social Enterprise to support social enterprise development and growth.

Social enterprise continues to grow as an innovative model for a broad range of non-profit organizations to meet their social, environmental and financial objectives. The reasons for starting mission-based social enterprises are diverse - from creating jobs or training opportunities for disadvantaged populations, delivering needed services and products to the community, to stimulating economic development in inner city or rural communities, or furthering environmental sustainability.

"The web site and the guide are important tools to support social enterprises. Social enterprises allow non-profit organizations to use business solutions to address critical social needs in the community," said Wendy Rogers, Assistant Manager, Community Economic Development, Coast Capital Savings, an enp funding partner.

enp is a unique partnership of funders (Coast Capital Savings Credit Union, Vancity Credit Union, Vancouver Foundation, United Way of Lower Mainland, Vancity Community Foundation, and Western Economic Diversification Canada) that invests across BC in the early development needs for social enterprises.
