Eve J. Alfillé Gallery & Studio to Celebrate Twenty Years at Downtown Evanston Location

Artist Unveils New Nature-Inspired Jewelry Collection to the Public at November 10th Anniversary Party

EVANSTON, IL--(Marketwire - November 5, 2007) - Artist and jewelry designer, Eve J. Alfillé, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of her eponymous business, the Eve J. Alfillé Gallery & Studio ( Sharing her 20th anniversary with "Black Monday," one of the worst stock market declines in recent history, highlights the importance of this milestone and underscores Alfillé's passion and perseverance. In recognition of the Gallery's success and longevity at its downtown Evanston location, Alfillé will host an open house on Saturday, November 10th from 3:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. In addition to a celebration of her work and its evolution, the Gallery will unveil Alfillé's latest collection, titled "Umbel & Corymb," at the event.

"I'm honored to have been able to do what I love for more than 20 years, in what I think is one of the most vibrant and progressive niches the Chicago area has to offer," said Alfillé.

By the time Alfillé had fully embraced her new life as an artist more than 20 years ago, she had already spent years as an accountant, stockbroker, teacher and archeologist. Although much of her life experience influences her perspective, it was the latter that had the most significant impact on her creative approach. More than two decades later, the result is one-of-a-kind work that evokes nature and the passage of time. Alfillé's collections span a spectrum of soft, flowing, feminine lines of gold and pearls to bold, rugged pieces combining metal with unusual gems like rare tanzanites, shimmering moonstones or sapphires in subtle greens.

"In becoming one of a long chain of keepers of the world's gems, I satisfy both my need to be linked to our common past, and to highlight and preserve these incredible gifts of nature," says Alfillé. "To highlight the beauty and power of nature I like to mesh uncommon organic materials in their unadulterated form with more familiar polished and faceted gemstones and precious metals."

Alfillé's work continues to be inspired by Nature. Her latest collection examines the beauty in the functionality of plants and how they arrange themselves. In this new series Alfillé, a former sculptor and poet, employs her chosen medium of fine jewelry to reflect on the myriad forms in which Nature predestines flower and fruit placement and growth order on a plant stem. Viewers of "Umbel & Corymb" will be charmed by unusual forms of known gems, such as crystals of rough pink sapphires, white opalescent frosted diamonds and carved jaspers, all set in rose, green and white gold and platinum.

"Human societies, too, evolve in myriad forms," she muses. "Some place all individuals on the same level; others permit a few to achieve maximum growth at the expense of others."

For the past 20 years, spring and fall, Alfillé has produced a new design series. Sometimes she reflects on the archaeological past of human societies, other times she reverts to nature to make her point. The jewelry is created of precious metals and gemstones with the help of her skilled coworkers, right on location in the studio attached to the gallery.

In addition to the introduction of the new collection, any customers making a purchase of $500 will receive Alfillé's exclusive "Umbel & Corymb" 2nd Annual Preview Party Charm, as a gift from the artist. The open house will feature music, drinks and small bites and will be held at the Gallery, which is located at 623 Grove Street in Downtown Evanston.
