Expectations Exceeded at ECPokerTour Barcelona Tournament, Record Prizes Awarded

291 players from all over the world competed at the Gran Casino de Barcelona and Fabrice Bachellez from France took first place with a prize of EUR 170,000.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - April 13, 2010) - French poker player Fabrice Bachellez had a pair of sevens going into the final hand of Heads Up play at the ECPokerTour Barcelona tournament, but his opponent, Rebecca Gerin, couldn't make anything out of her Ace and Ten pocket cards. Bachellez won the hand and the EUR 170,000 first prize, the highest ever awarded on the ECPokerTour circuit.

291 players from all over the world competed at the Gran Casino de Barcelona in the first event of the ECPokerTour in 2010. The tournament was advertised as a EUR 500,000 Guaranteed event but player participation in the EUR 2500 + EUR 250 Main Event resulted in a final prize pool of EUR 727,500.

For finishing in second place, Gerin took home EUR 110,000. Also sitting at the tournament's Final Table and winning huge cash prizes were players Andrew Grimason (3rd place and EUR 65,500); John Eames (4th place and EUR 50,000);
Christophe Benzimra (5th place and EUR 30,000); Nils Petterson (6th place and EUR 29,000); Peter Nordin (7th place and EUR 24,000); Marvin Rettenmaier (8th place and EUR 18,300); and Hannu Korva (9th place and EUR 15,000).

Benzimra had the distinction of winning the Titan Top Finalist award, with a $25,000 ECPokerTour package including entries, travel and accommodation at upcoming ECPokerTour events. "This tournament was very well organized and the structure was good," Benzimra said. "I'm very happy that I represented Titan Poker in Barcelona.", the official sponsor of the ECPokerTour, had staged a series of qualifier satellite tournaments in conjunction with the iPoker Network, awarding winning players with EUR 4,800 Prize Packages, including seats at the Main Event.

The ECPokerTour Barcelona tournament attracted some of the best poker players in Europe and from around the world, including Team Titan members Mizzi Sorel; Fabien Carliez; Massimiliano Tamburini; Slobodan Savic; Adam York; Andreas Schimt; Jan Bjoersland; and Jose Manuel Gomez Rebenaque.

Twenty-two-year-old French player Florian Desgouttes, representing Titan Poker, won the EUR 150 + EUR 20 Side Event in Barcelona.

The ECPokerTour previously staged highly successful tournaments in Madrid in 2008; and in Salzburg and Malta in 2009.
