Attention: Sports Editor, Travel/Tourism Editor OAKVILLE--(CCNMatthews - July 11, 2005) - The Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced today the names of the athletes who have been selected to participate in the 2005 Callaway San Diego Junior Golf Championship to be held from July 12-15 at Torrey Pines Golf Club in San Diego, CA.

Male athletes were selected based on their position on the 2004 BMO Financial Group Junior Order of Merit. Rafael Lee of Burnaby, B.C. and Darren Wallace of Langley, B.C. will join Caroline Kim, Port Coquitlam, B.C. and Laura Harris, New Minas, N.S. who were selected based on their finish at the 2004 Royale National Junior Girls Championship.

Accompanying the team to San Diego to assist with training and preparation will be coaches Leigh Ann Jeffcock and Brett Saunders with the RCGA's Player and Program Development.

"This is a wonderful opportunity for four of Canada's top junior golfers to gain valuable international experience against a very strong field of International players," said Doug Roxburough, RCGA Director of High Performance Programs. "We have an excellent representation of Junior talent to take to San Diego."

Play will begin Tuesday with 72 holes of medal play. The team competition will play over 54 holes with the combined score counting toward the overall team total. Players must be under the age of 18 as of July 15, 2005.
