Federal Emergency Management Agency to Ring The NASDAQ Stock Market Closing Bell

Michael D. Brown, Department of Homeland Security's Under Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will preside over the closing bell.

FEMA, as part of the Department of Homeland Security, manages federal response and recovery efforts following national incidents of all types, natural or manmade. FEMA also initiates proactive mitigation activities, trains first responders, works with state and local emergency managers, and manages the National Flood Insurance Program. The 26-year-old agency became part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on March 1, 2003.
