Finning International Announces the Appointment of James Carter to Its Board of Directors

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Oct. 11, 2007) - Finning International Inc. ("Finning") (TSX:FTT) is pleased to announce the appointment of James Carter to the Board of Directors. Mr. Carter is the former President and Chief Operating Officer of Syncrude Canada.

Conrad Pinette, Chairman of the Board of Finning, commented, "We are extremely pleased to welcome Jim to Finning's Board of Directors. He has played a prominent role in the growth of Syncrude and in the development of Alberta's oil sands as well as the community of Fort McMurray. He brings extensive senior executive experience as well as an in depth knowledge of the energy business to the Finning Board."

In 2005, Mr. Carter was named Resource Person of the Year by the Alberta Chamber of Resources, inducted as a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering and received an Alberta Centennial Medal from the Province of Alberta. He has extensive community and professional affiliations including Director and Past Chairman, Mining Association of Canada; Director, Alberta Research Council; and Champion, Aboriginal Human Resources Council of Canada.

Mr. Carter holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mining Engineering from the Technical University of Nova Scotia and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He is the recipient of two honourary Doctorate degrees from the University of Alberta (Science) and the Technical University of Nova Scotia (Engineering).
