First Suncor-branded fuelling centre opens in Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray, Alberta (January 16, 2006) — The first Suncor Energy-branded commercial "FleetFuels cardlock" has opened in Fort McMurray to meet the growing demand for high-quality, low sulphur diesel fuel and gasoline in the Wood Buffalo region.

Located on Highway 63, just north of Confederation Way, the facility is a canopied, three-island cardlock with six high speed fuel pumps that are specifically designed for commercial vehicle use. Diesel fuel for the cardlock is supplied from Suncor's oil sands operation. Regular gasoline is available as an added service to commercial customers.

The new cardlock is branded under the Suncor Energy name; a first for the company. Suncor's retail stations and cardlocks in Ontario operate under the Sunoco brand, and in the Denver area, the retail business is part of the Phillips 66 brand.

"As one of the major diesel fuel producers in western Canada, this new facility is a natural addition to the slate of products Suncor provides customers," said Steve Duke, director, Suncor Energy Marketing Inc. "And like those other businesses we too are committed to providing customers with excellent service, consistent supply and competitively priced fuel products."

The unstaffed outlet in Fort McMurray is open for commercial business 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To use the cardlock, commercial drivers can apply for a Suncor FleetFuels card on-line at or by calling 1-800-668-8060 to request a credit application. Access to the fuelling pumps will be made available to customers through PIN security access cards.
