Fisher Interactive Network Advances Social Media Strategy With New Director of Social Media Position

SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwire - August 18, 2010) -  Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI), a leader in local media innovation, announced today that its digital division, Fisher Interactive Network, has promoted Jenny Kuglin to the position of Director of Social Media, responsible for advancing the company's social media strategies, establishing policy and developing best practices for all of Fisher's properties.

Previously, Kuglin was the news director for Fisher's CBS affiliated station in Eugene, Oregon, KVAL-TV, a position she has held since March 2008. Under her leadership, KVAL's news team won the AP Best Newscast Award in both 2008 and 2009.

"Fisher is committed to building a comprehensive social media plan for our group, and we were very fortunate to have an internal candidate who has demonstrated results with her social media initiatives. Jenny's knowledge of news coupled with her experience should propel our stations forward quickly and extend our reach into the communities we serve," said Randa Minkarah, Fisher's Senior Vice President Business Development.

"I'm excited about joining the Fisher Interactive team to implement social media strategies that will drive viewership, stimulate conversation and build brand awareness," Kuglin said.

While at KVAL-TV, Western Oregon's #1 rated station, Kuglin drove strong web participation among the broadcast staff and made it a core part of the day-to-day newsroom operation. She made great strides using social media to increase page views, user engagement and awareness of the news brand.

Prior to joining KVAL-TV, Kuglin was an executive producer at Northwest Cable News, and an anchor, reporter, producer, and news director at KECI-TV in Missoula, Montana.
