Five Suppliers Earn Service Excellence Awards for Outstanding Service to VHA Members

IRVING, TX--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - VHA Inc., the national health care network, has honored five suppliers for their outstanding service to its member health care organizations. Based on input from members and VHA and Novation staff, the winners of VHA's 2010 Service Excellence Award are:

AmeriSource Bergen, Valley Forge, Pa. The firm was given the Pharmacy Distributor of the Year award. AmerisourceBergen serves nearly 37% of VHA's membership. In 2009, AmerisourceBergen national accounts and corporate generics teams helped Novation implement a full portfolio of more than 5,000 non-injectable generic items. VHA members realized additional significant savings, higher fill rates, and other program benefits. The company was also lauded by members for its intense focus on medication safety and helping members resolve problems with back orders and recalls as smoothly as possible.

Ascent Healthcare Solutions Inc., Phoenix. The company was recognized as the Purchased Services Supplier of the Year for its efforts to help members reduce supply expenses and medical waste by promoting safe and effective instrument reprocessing.

Hospira, Lake Forest, Ill. The firm was recognized as the Pharmacy Supplier of the Year for its efforts to help Novation save more than $8 million on two pharmacy contracts, while bringing new and innovative ideas for minimizing the cost of pharmaceuticals in the NOVAPLUS portfolio.

Kimberly Clark, Dallas. This company was recognize as the Non-pharmacy Supplier of the Year for its work to help members manage individual issues with the facial protection product shortages that resulted from the H1N1 outbreak. Kimberly Clark also demonstrated flexibility in helping Novation find ways to generate a price decrease on facial protection products when the contract renewed. 

Owens & Minor, Richmond, Va. The distributor was given the Non-pharmacy Distributor of the Year Award for its long-standing consistency in excellent customer service, especially as it related to notifying customers immediately when cost saving opportunities arose and resolving problems quickly.
