Florida Bar Grants Prestigious Construction Law Board-Certification to Ft. Myers Resident Attorney

Becker & Poliakoff Practicing Attorney Tom Code Receives Florida Bar's Highest Level of Recognition for Legal Expertise in Construction Law

FT. LAUDERDALE, FL--(Marketwire - August 6, 2008) - Becker & Poliakoff, P.A., a diversified commercial law firm with more than 125 attorneys in 15 offices throughout Florida, in New York City, and affiliated offices in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, today announced that attorney Tom Code has been granted certification by the Florida Bar in the area of construction law in recognition of special knowledge, skills and proficiency in construction law in the state of Florida.

Board-certification is the Florida Bar's highest level of recognition of an attorney's competency and experience in one or more of the 20 areas of law approved for certification by the Supreme Court of Florida. Any lawyer who is a member in good standing of The Florida Bar and who meets the standards prescribed by the state's Supreme Court may apply for board-certification. Only attorneys who have earned the Florida Bar's "board-certification" distinction are allowed to describe themselves as legal specialists or experts in a specific field of practice.

With Mr. Code's certification, Becker & Poliakoff's expanding construction law group now boasts nine board-certified attorneys. Becker & Poliakoff's statewide construction law practice is chaired by shareholder Steven Lesser and vice-chaired by shareholder Lee Weintraub. Both attorneys work from the firm's Fort Lauderdale office and both were board-certified in construction law by the Florida Bar in 2005.

"Our law firm is honored that the Florida Bar has chosen to grant Tom Code board-certification for his demonstrated knowledge, skills and proficiency in the area of construction law," said Steven Lesser. "Becker & Poliakoff's Construction Law Practice is committed to providing our clients with the highest quality legal expertise. Mr. Code's hard work and dedication to the law demonstrates the level of service our firm strives to offer."

Mr. Code was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2004 and practices in the areas of Construction Law, Civil Litigation, Complex and Commercial Litigation, Arbitration and Contract Law. Mr. Code is fluent in both English and Spanish and additionally holds Bar Admissions in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. He received a Bachelors of Science in Management from Tulane University and holds an M.B.A. from Puerto Rico's InterAmerican University and a J.D. from the University Of Puerto Rico School of Law.

Also earning the distinction of Board-Certification in the field of Construction Law this year is Lisa Colon, an attorney with Becker and Poliakoff's Fort Lauderdale offices.
