"The accomplishments of these 2010 Honorees exemplify effective corporate governance and are strong reminders of the serious commitment and diligence that can be found in today's board rooms. Whether overseeing business strategies to drive growth, building long-term value creation for investors, re-establishing credibility among shareholders, or making meaningful contributions of their time and leadership skills to the communities in which they live, these individuals have all played significant roles in creating success and excellence for their organizations. We are pleased to recognize each of them as Director of the Year Honorees in 2010," Della Grotta said.

In addition to its Director of the Year Awards, FCD works to promote the highest standards in corporate governance through a variety of educational programs each year, all of which are accredited by Institutional Shareholder Services/RiskMetrics, the leading provider of proxy voting and corporate governance services. These programs include the Corporate Governance Outlook, the Directors' Institute, In-Board Room Education as well as special events with nationally recognized governance experts, such as the recent Mergers & Acquisitions Roundtable with Chief Justice Myron Steele of the Delaware Supreme Court, which the UCI Paul Merage School of Business and the UCI School of Law co-hosted with FCD in November 2009.

"In a world of economic uncertainty, complicated by new legislation and increased regulatory oversight, there is more need than ever for a forum such as FCD where directors, C-Level officers and those who support boards can meet in a peer setting to exchange ideas on new and developing best practices to conduct business in a global and changing economy," Della Grotta said.
