Call for Expanded Stem Cell Treatment Cannot Be Ignored by President!!!

FULLERTON, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- July 29, 2005 --Stem Cell research companies stock on the rise on Friday, as news that Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, in a split from President George W. Bush, said he supports expanding U.S. funding to study embryonic stem cells as potential treatments for disease.

U.S. Biodefense (OTC BB: UBDE), who recently announced their sponsorship of 1-800-STEM-CELLS.COM, a major success for the Stem Cell Industry Council, a newly formed IRS-approved 501C3 Non-Profit Organization "Advocating Stem Cell Education, Research, and Fundraising," saw its share surge up $.60 to $4.15. Most Active Companies that have benefitted from this news include Geron Corp. (NASDAQ: GERN), whose stock this morning rose 77 cents, or 7.5 percent, to $10.98. ViaCell Inc. also saw an increase of 6% to $8.70. StemCells, Inc. (NASDAQ: STEM) was up 18% to $6.15. Aastrom Biosciences (NASDAQ: ASTM) was up 11% to $3.37; the company recently announced that it has expanded the U.S. Phase I/II clinical trial of its adult stem cell-based Tissue Repair Cells (TRCs) in the treatment of severe long bone open or non-union fractures to include the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in Omaha, NE.

On ABC's "Good Morning America," Senator Frist, who is a medical doctor, was quoted saying, "Now is the time to expand the president's policy because it's promising research, but it must be done in a way that is ethically considerate, that respects the dignity of human life."
