Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation Receives a $1,983,375 Grant From the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE) and Begins Its Community Holiday Season Events

SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwire - November 24, 2009) - In an informal ceremony, Pamela Tice, administrator for the Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation, witnessed the official signing of a nearly two million dollar Grant from the California Cultural and Historical Endowment (CCHE). The Grant was endorsed by Mimi Rogers, CCHE Executive Director. During 2008 and 2009, the Fullerton Historic Theatre Foundation gathered hundreds of volunteer hours and in-kind donations to meet the grant match requirements.

According to Tom Tice, president of the Foundation board, "It involves a considerable amount of coordination and record keeping, but our volunteers and Board Committee worked diligently to meet the demands of the grant." Tom Dalton, FHTF Board Member and President of Fullerton Heritage, will serve as the Grant Manager. Tice also wished to thank the assistance and cooperation of the Fullerton Redevelopment Agency. "These funds will be used for the continuing efforts to restore the Fox Fullerton Theatre."

The Fox Fullerton Theatre is a community icon and in celebration of the holiday season "Movies on the Fox," a free movie night, will be held on Tuesday, December 1 at 7 p.m. and guests are invited to bring canned goods (fruits, vegetables, meats, soup, juice), or nonperishable foods including large boxes of dry cereals to support the Food Bank at the Fullerton Interfaith Emergency Services, Inc. An expected audience of 600-800 will attend. The National Lampoon's, "Christmas Vacation" with Chevy Chase is the featured film.

In concert with the City of Fullerton's Saturday, December 5th Winterfest -- a day-long holiday extravaganza -- the Fox Fullerton Theatre will host a reception in the courtyard of the theatre, from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. to honor the Foundation's members, volunteers and the community -- a great photo opportunity. Tours of the theatre will be available. Reservations for the tours are requested and can be made by calling (714) 870-0069.

The Foundation is also offering special commemorative stocking stuffers, or tree ornaments for a donation of $20. These will be available at the Holiday Open House on December 5 or by calling the Foundation office at 714-870-0069.

When the restoration project is completed, the Fox Fullerton Theatre Complex, an architectural community treasure, will provide an incomparable cultural entertainment experience while being the preferred destination for classic and contemporary live and cinematic arts.

Private and public grants and donations are welcomed to continue the restoration of the theatre complex. For more information regarding the Fox Fullerton Theatre Complex please check the website at or call (714) 870-0069.
