Futura Announces Financial Results for 2009

Revenue Up 57% From 2008 to $1.24 Million in 2009

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - The Futura Loyalty Group Inc. (TSX VENTURE:FUT) ("Futura" or the "Company") has released its financial results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2009.

Revenue from operations for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2009 was $1,237,770, up 57% from $789,207 in fiscal 2008. A significant portion of this revenue growth was derived from the sale of Aeroplan Miles through the Futura network of retailers, with 237 merchant locations issuing Aeroplan Miles at year end 2009, compared to 7 merchant locations at year end 2008. The Company continues to add retailers issuing Aeroplan Miles and Futura Rewards to consumers and currently has 560 locations that have signed on to the Futura retail platform.

The loss from continuing operations for the fiscal 2009 was $2,331,294 in comparison to a loss from continuing operations of $3,439,377 for 2008, a 32% year-over-year improvement. Revenue from the resale of Aeroplan Miles, coupled with expense reductions accounted for most of the improvement in the net loss.

"2009 was a pivotal year for the Company as Futura accelerated the roll out of locations issuing Aeroplan Miles based on our operating agreement with Aeroplan that was consummated in December 2008. Throughout the year, we have increased the velocity of sales but more importantly, we have focused on larger chains that have yielded significantly increased mile issuance. Our strategic entry into the automotive sector has demonstrated the strength of our marketing systems and technology solutions to be able to launch national and regional multiple location, franchised base retailers using various point of sale solutions" stated Mark Farrell, Chief Executive Officer.

Business Highlights

Some of the key highlights include:

  • The launch of two key accounts, Active Green and Ross and PJ's Pet Centres in the fall of 2009, adding in excess of 110 locations onto the retail platform for a total location count of 274 by year end.
  • The development and implementation of the proprietary offer management system software that enables merchants to create, change, publish and manage customized marketing programs and offers to consumers (i.e. 2X bonus, product bundles, frequency, time of day, store location, department, sku level) on a national, regional or store by store basis.
  • The addition of two board members with significant industry and operational experience (Terry Rumsey, former president of Carlson Marketing Canada, and Ted Dzialowki, Executive Chair of Nutri-lawn Ecology Friendly Lawn Care Ltd. and Cleanol Integrated Services Ltd.) and significant experience in building successful enterprises to expand and enhance the expertise of the board including the day-to-day involvement of an executive vice chair. 
  • The Company's continued improvement in its core technology processing system which allows for increased processing scale, improved data analytics and interactive marketing abilities.

The Company intends to continue to grow its retail base of reward generating merchants supporting both the Aeroplan and Futura programs. With the recent additions of Integra Tire, Maaco Systems Canada, OK Tire Stores and Nutrilawn Lawn Care systems, all multiple location, franchised based organizations, management believes that the Company will continue to grow its revenue base.
