G&K Services Receives `50 Best Employers' Award in

MINNEAPOLIS--(CCNMatthews - Jan 4, 2005) -

G&K Services, Inc. (Nasdaq:GKSRA), today announced that it was named one
of the 50 Best Employers in Canada. The award is sponsored by The Globe
and Mail, Canada's national newspaper, and Hewitt and Associates, a
global consulting firm whose Vancouver, British Columbia office
conducted and analyzed the surveys for the award.

G&K Services has been providing branded identity apparel and facility
service programs to customers in Canada since 1990. Today, G&K is the
largest provider of these programs in Canada, employing more than 1,500

"We are honored by this distinction," said Robert Wood, president of G&K
Canada. "Because the award was based on the response of our employees,
it is a testament to the hard-working individuals across the team who
make G&K a fulfilling place to work. We look forward to maintaining
these high standards."

Hewitt and Associates designed the survey in conjunction with Globe and
Mail personnel, who made the final decision on the winners. The survey
was sent to more than 1,000 Canadian companies with greater than 300
employees. Broken down into three components - the Leadership Team
Survey, the Human Resources Survey, and the Employee Opinion Survey -
the results were meant to capture a broad employee perspective within
the company.

The Leadership Team survey focused on the vision, culture, strengths and
opportunities of the organization while the Human Resources survey
focused on the HR strategy and philosophy of the company. The Employee
survey was distributed to a random sample of employees, representing
union and non-union groups proportionally. Based on the population of
G&K Canada, 300 employee surveys were required for consideration.

"Our outstanding team of people in Canada makes G&K a great place to
work," said Richard Marcantonio, president and chief executive officer
of G&K Services, Inc. "We are proud to be recognized as one of the '50
Best Employers' in Canada. Through the hard work and dedication of our
employees, we have built upon our leading position in Canada. Every day,
our Canadian partners look for new and innovative ways to enhance the
image of our customers and keep their facilities clean and safe."

The results and an article on the winners were published in the Globe
and Mail's December 31st edition of the Report on Business which can be
