Responding to the devastation following the earthquake and subsequent aftershocks in Haiti, the Vancouver Giants are partnering with Global Aid Network, Canada (GAiN), a division of Power to Change, to help provide emergency relief for the people of Haiti.

When Giants fans cheer on their team at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday, January 30th against the Prince George Cougars and on Sunday, January 31st against the Portland Winter Hawks, they can also make a donation towards Haiti relief efforts.

GAiN will have a booth set up in the concourse of the Langley Events Centre where spectators can make their donations and information on how they can give will appear on the jumbo-tron and announcements will be made throughout the game.

"By partnering with the Vancouver Giants, we're able to involve our own community in responding to the staggering needs," says GAiN director, Bill Blaney from Haiti. "What you're seeing on the news isn't even close to what the real devastation looks like. We're thankful that the Giants want to help and have their fans make a real difference in Haiti."

GAiN is on the ground in Haiti distributing emergency response kits containing food, water purification tablets, tents for shelter and basic hygiene necessities. Our disaster response specialists are also setting up medical clinics and providing trauma counselling for survivors.

All proceeds for this fundraising initiative will be directed to Haiti relief efforts. Donations can be made in cash, cheque or by credit card at the event. Donations can also be made online at or by phone at 1.800.563.1106. The Canadian government will match individual donations made by February 12.

The latest on GAiN's relief efforts will be updated on GAiN's website at, our facebook page: Global Aid Network (GAiN) Canada, and on twitter: GAiNCanada.

Global Aid Network is the humanitarian division of Power to Change, a Christian organization with 15 divisions working in Canada and around the world. Other Power to Change divisions also include, Athletes in Action, which works with the Langley Chiefs and the BC Lions.
