GIPS Launches Server-Based Transcoding and De-Jittering Solution to Enable High-Quality Communications Between Networks

Ayalogic Licenses GIPS Technology to Reduce Delay and Jitter to Provide Robust VoIP Applications

SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 31, 2006 -- Global IP Sound (GIPS), the leading provider of embedded voice-processing solutions for the Voice over IP (VoIP) market, today announced that it is shipping its GIPS Border Interface Engine (BIE). This server-based transcoding and dejittering solution tackles quality degradation that occurs when calling between networks. GIPS also announced that Ayalogic will be the first customer to utilize this groundbreaking technology.

"VoIP calls are only as good as the total quality experience of the end user, but quality often falls short at the juncture between disparate networks," said Roar Hagen, Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Global IP Sound. "Unquestionably, voice quality must be maintained throughout the entire communications chain in order for VoIP to be an effective solution. With BIE, we've closed a major loop in the chain by empowering enterprise solutions and service providers the ability to maximize voice quality across networks and platforms."

BIE allows VoIP solutions to provide consistent connectivity between networks, and enables high-quality conversation in both directions by maintaining call integrity over the IP network. GIPS BIE utilizes GIPS patented codecs, as well as NetEQ, its jitter buffer and error concealment module, while the call goes through the IP network. By managing jitter and delay on signals before they are transcoded and sent over the public Internet or PSTN, the solution greatly enhances the user experience on the receiving side, even when a call is terminated in a border gateway or public narrowband network. Meanwhile, on the IP network side, users enjoy the same quality benefits gained by using high-quality GIPS codecs, rather than a standard such as G.729 or G.711.

The ability to provide unmatched quality across networks was the deciding factor in integrating BIE for Ayalogic. According to Michael J. Rojas, President of Ayalogic, "As a company that offers an enterprise solution, our customers have a higher standard when it comes to call quality. In addition, the feature of providing PSTN termination is what sets our solution apart from the rest. GIPS was able to deliver both of these crucial elements by enabling a robust call capability, regardless of which network the user is interacting with."

Ayalogic's patent-pending software solution, Qmunicate™, integrates voice, text, IM, voicemail, email and document transfer tools for business into a single customized platform that can be deployed across all communication devices: Phones, PCs and PDAs. Qmunicate™, powered by Ayalogic, helps organizations take back control over their communications by integrating the components of voice, messaging, data transfer and devices. This enterprise communications solution allows the users to experience secure messaging and interconnectivity while reducing the costs and inefficiencies associated with existing telephony services.

GIPS BIE, which supports all codecs and protocols, works in tandem with other GIPS products, such as VoiceEngine, to ensure that all parties in a VoIP call enjoy high-quality voice even when only one side is utilizing GIPS technology. The solution, which can be implemented on any standard server platform, is appropriate for mediation devices, gateways, or monitoring applications.
