GM Canada April 2008 Sales Results

(Data is not adjusted for the difference in selling days; April 2008 had 26 selling days vs. April 2007 with 23 selling days)

OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 1, 2008) - For April 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 38,984 units, down 13.5% from a year ago and reflects a decrease in overall fleet volume. Fleet car sales were down as a result of a planned reduction in daily rental units and truck fleet volume was impacted by the American Axle labour dispute in the U.S.

"On the retail side of the business cars are up a full 23.8% driven by strong demand for our recently launched products like the Chevrolet Malibu, Saturn Astra and Pontiac Vibe," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service, and marketing.

Comeau continued, "With rising gas prices, we are seeing a surge in demand for fuel efficient options and GM is well positioned to meet customer needs with more fuel efficient small cars, a wide selection of affordable hybrids and technologies like Active Fuel Management that enable our large utilities and pick ups to achieve significantly better fuel economy on the highway."
