Chance For Canadians To Win Their Own Franchise

Attention: Assignment Editor, Business/Financial Editor, City Editor, Food/Beverage Editor, News Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, MEDIA ADVISORY--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2009) - Four Canadian franchises have teamed up across Canada to create the Franchise Economic Stimulus Package - an opportunity for Canadians to compete for a franchise of their very own.

What's up for grabs? A MR. GREEK in Toronto, an Academy for Mathematics and English in Edmonton, a PostNet in Calgary and a Quick Service Restaurant (TBA) in Ottawa. The grand prize in each city will be a franchise fee, plus the rights to a new franchise.

"This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who has ever seriously considered starting their own business," says Shawn Saraga, organizer of the Franchise Economic Stimulus Package competition.

In each city, competitors must submit a franchise application, including a 500-word essay explaining why they want to run the franchise in question. Five finalists per franchise will be selected to compete in a day-long 'Apprentice'-style event that will test their business skills, creative thinking and determination.

"This competition is a fun and innovative way to stimulate the franchise industry during these hard economic times," says Saraga.

The competition kicks off September 16th, 2009 in Toronto with a chance to win the first grand prize: a MR. GREEK franchise fee and franchise rights. Grand prizes are valued from $20,000 to $35,000 each.
