GameZnFlix CEO Urges Standards in Educational Game Software

FRANKLIN, KY--(Marketwire - January 18, 2008) - John Fleming, CEO of GameZnFlix (OTCBB: GMFX), an online provider of video games and movies for rent or purchase, today urged the developers of educational video games to fund research into the factors that make effective teaching tools.

"The idea came to me while Christmas shopping for my grandkids," said Fleming. "I wanted to give them a mix of games for fun and games for learning. The fun part was easy. There is no lack of entertainment game reviews in magazines and online. When it comes to games that teach, though, the decision isn't easy. You have no choice but to rely on the game publisher's claims. All you can do is hope they know what they're doing."

Educational video games, for play either on a computer or on a game console, constitute a broad but vaguely defined subcategory in the gaming world. The goal is to create games that impart knowledge while still being interesting enough to capture and hold a child's imagination.

"There are a lot of brilliant and talented game designers out there," continued Fleming, "but just because they can create a million-seller game doesn't necessarily mean they have the right skills to teach. What I'd like to see is some real research, sponsored by either the game publishers themselves or their trade association, that will reveal the elements that make for games that are both popular and educational."

According to Fleming, "Everybody is just shooting in the dark here. We need an unbiased and systematic investigation that can tell us what strategies work best. If we can get to that point everybody wins -- the game developers, the parents and especially, the kids."
