Technology industry veteran brings more than 23 years of marketing leadership experience to the mining software company

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Jan. 15, 2007) - Gemcom Software International Inc. (TSX:GCM), the largest global supplier of specialised mining productivity solutions, today announced that Robert W. Selzler has joined the company as Vice President of marketing, responsible for worldwide marketing. Most recently the vice president of marketing for Mediabolic, Inc. (acquired by Macrovision), Selzler brings more than 23 years of success in developing marketing strategies and go-to-market initiatives at several Silicon Valley high-technology companies.

"Gemcom has rounded out its management team to ensure that we capitalise on the investments we have made in expanding our global presence, solutions offering and our delivery capabilities," said Rick Moignard, President and CEO of Gemcom. "Bob is a key addition to our team, with his exceptional marketing track record with technology companies such as General Electric, Apple Computer, InnoMedia and Mediabolic."

Prior to Mediabolic, Selzler served as vice president of marketing with InnoMedia, Kenwood Technologies and Zen Research. His tenure with these companies was marked by significant growth in brand visibility, market share, and revenue, resulting from strong marketing strategies, the establishment of partnership programs, and proactive outbound communications. Selzler also held senior marketing management positions with Apple Computer for over 9 years, where he led a global team responsible for the worldwide technology evangelism of its software. He was also instrumental in helping Apple launch into the engineering and scientific markets. Earlier in his career, Selzler held several positions with mining and engineering companies and with companies supplying related technology, including 4 years as a Product Manager with GE Calma, where he managed a line of 3D mapping software.

"Gemcom is widely recognized as the global leader in delivering compelling software and comprehensive services for the mining industry. Their vision for addressing the key issues facing this market sets them apart from the competition," stated Robert W. Selzler, Vice President of marketing at Gemcom. "I look forward to working closely with Gemcom's global management team to execute on that vision, raise visibility for our solutions, and deliver increased value to our worldwide customers."

Gemcom's software solutions are focused on enabling mining companies to meet the most challenging issues they face, including: rising demand and costs; shortage of skilled mining specialists; and the need to improve global management capabilities. Selzler will be tasked with raising awareness for Gemcom's solutions and working closely with the Company's product management and sales teams to create initiatives to ultimately drive customers from consideration to the purchase of the Company's solutions.
