Generex Biotechnology Granted New Mexican Drug Delivery Patent

TORONTO -- (MARKET WIRE) -- August 28, 2006 -- Generex Biotechnology Corporation (NASDAQ: GNBT), the leader in metabolic diseases drug delivery through the inner lining of the mouth, announced today that it has been granted a new patent by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property titled Pharmaceutical Compositions for Buccal and Pulmonary Application. The patent covers claims to the composition, process and methodologies for the delivery of macromolecules via the buccal cavity of the mouth.

The patent, an extant United States Patent held by the Company, relates to an improved pharmaceutical composition comprising macromolecule pharmaceuticals in micellar form which are particularly effective in buccal and pulmonary applications. The claims also relate to methods for preparing and using these pharmaceutical compositions. Methods for enhancing the rate of absorption of a macromolecular pharmaceutical agent are also disclosed.

The Company currently holds an aggregate of 78 patents worldwide (20 of which are United States Patents) and has an aggregate of 62 patent applications pending in various jurisdictions.
