Geoff Ramsey to Deliver Keynote Presentation at ad:tech San Francisco

eMarketer CEO Will Provide Context and Shed Light on Hot Markets

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 16, 2010) -  eMarketer CEO Geoff Ramsey will give a keynote presentation at ad:tech San Francisco, providing context to IPG Media Lab executive director Lori Schwartz's profile of four hot San Francisco tech companies. The session is titled "White Hot San Francisco Tech Companies & Why They Matter," and will take place on Tuesday, April 20 from 5pm to 6pm PDT.

Following each company profile, Mr. Ramsey will provide attendees with an inside look at the space in which each company operates. In his engaging and data-enriched presentation, Mr. Ramsey will provide his customary inside look at the numbers and evolving consumer trends to provide context and a strategic perspective for each featured company.

In his talk, Mr. Ramsey will cover online retail, explaining why e-commerce is set to soar back to double-digit growth in 2010 after two years of subpar growth. With almost half of US Internet users spending time on social networks today, marketers need to go beyond placing banners and buttons on these sites and instead focus on the marketing and engagement aspects of social media.

"Instead of trying to drive people to your e-commerce Website to shop and buy, you should bring the shop to the places where Internet users like to congregate, like social networks," said Mr. Ramsey in a pre-conference phone interview conducted by WebmasterRadio.

Although 2010 may not be the "year of mobile," the era of mobile is definitely here. Mr. Ramsey will spell out the four factors driving mobile marketing, including the growing use of geo-targeting, which adds a location and time dimension to targeting efforts and allows for new point-of-purchase opportunities for retailers.

Online video is the fastest-growing segment in online advertising. Seventy-five percent of US Internet users watch online video. Subsets of viewers are also glued to full-length TV shows and movies online. Mr. Ramsey will discuss why ad dollars for online video lag far behind those for TV.

Since digital marketing is moving at lightning speed, keeping track of the trends, emerging technologies and the business opportunities they bring is a full-time job. Attendees to this ad:tech session will get a crash course in how to steer their businesses in the right directions.
