Georgia Perimeter College Selects Nortel for Hosted Contact Center Solution

Aligns with State's Call to Action to be Faster, Friendlier and Easier

ATLANTA, GEORGIA--(Marketwire - June 16, 2009) – In an effort to provide a fast-growing student body with convenient access to information regarding students services such as enrollment services, career counseling, tuition and fees, testing schedules and more, Georgia Perimeter College has selected a Hosted Contact Center Solution from Nortel(1) (TSX:NT)(OTCBB:NRTLQ).

Faced with the need to control costs and reduce complexity, Georgia Perimeter College(2) is leveraging a Nortel Hosted Contact Center Solution to support various student services groups including the offices of Enrollment Services, Advising and Counseling, Student Financial Services, and Testing.

The new contact center will increase students' ability to access relevant and consistent answers to their inquiries and will educate them on processes and services to promote self sufficiency. The college is aligning with Governor Sonny Perdue's strategy to provide a consistent and positive customer experience across all public entities throughout the state of Georgia. Georgia Perimeter College will be the first institution in the University System of Georgia to implement this experience for its students.

"We needed a ready-to-go solution that would allow us to deliver secure and reliable customer service for our students," said Dr. Anthony S. Tricoli, president, Georgia Perimeter College. "After seeing the added benefits from the state of Georgia's deployment of Nortel's Hosted Contact Center Solution, we also looked to Nortel to help us improve responsiveness and lower the costs of answering the customer requests associated with an institution of more than 23,500 students."

"The state of Georgia is a leader in customer service innovation, and Georgia Perimeter College is one example of how Georgia is encouraging other institutions to improve their services across the state," said Jenna Stanley, general manager, Enterprise Global Services, Nortel. "All stakeholders established very clear objectives, and Nortel has worked closely with them to define a solution that adds value and delivers results. Leveraging a hosted business model has allowed the state and the college to enhance the quality of service while reducing complexity and cost."

In early 2008, the Governor's Office of Customer Service deployed a Nortel Hosted Contact Center Solution in its 1.800.georgia call center. Since then, a dozen state call centers have expanded this into an enterprise-wide solution, which now handles nearly five million customer interactions per year. The solution provided Georgia agencies with a very cost-effective system utilizing the very latest, IP-based communications tools for enhancing customer satisfaction with a usage-based pricing model.

Nortel's Hosted Contact Center Solution provides a complete solution to the state of Georgia with connectivity, help-desk, monitoring, training, customer premise equipment, and billing applications along with the contact center capabilities.

Hosted Contact Center is just one of the Hosted Solutions available from Nortel, which also offers Hosted IP Telephony and Unified Communications, Hosted Automatic Call Distribution and Hosted Interactive Voice Response. Nortel Hosted Solutions can help universities, government agencies and enterprises reduce complexity, cost and capital investment while increasing productivity and eliminating the need to attract and retain additional skilled IT resources. More than 10,000 education customers worldwide have installed communications solutions from Nortel including Indiana University, Coppin State University, Tarrant County College District, RMIT University in Australia, New Canadian University, The University of the East in the Philippines, and Fudan University in China.
