Get Paid to Save: Con Edison Efficiency Programs Reward Customers

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - April 15, 2010) - Con Edison announced today that over 4,500 homes and small businesses have enrolled in new energy savings programs to help customers go green -- and save some green. The programs were highlighted at a press conference with State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr. at the storefront of one of the participating businesses, Delta Signs and Flag store in Glendale, Queens.

Designed to lower customers' energy usage, and help them cut monthly bills, Con Edison's new programs will help the company meet its goal to shave electric demand by 500 megawatts (or enough to eliminate the need to power up to 500,000 homes) by 2015. The programs will also help the state and city meet their long-range energy reduction targets.

Small businesses can receive free energy surveys and incentives of up to 70 percent on their investments in energy efficiency upgrades. Larger businesses can take advantage of energy saving programs as well. Residential customers may be eligible for rebates up to $1,000 for installing efficient heating, cooling and hot water heating equipment.

"Like many of our customers, Con Edison is committed to reducing our carbon footprint. These programs save money for New Yorkers and enhance the environment," said Rebecca Craft, director of Energy Efficiency programs at Con Edison.

State Senator Addabbo, Jr. said: "I want to thank Con Edison for working with my office and the local businesses to provide energy cost savings. In these difficult times every dollar that we can help a small business save is a dollar that can go towards helping to create jobs and helping these small businesses grow."
