MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - December 8, 2009) - Gear6 (, provider of the leading Memcached distribution, today announced that Glam Media, Inc. (, the pioneer of Vertical Media connecting premium brand advertisers with millions of consumers, now runs Gear6 Web Cache to get both scalability and availability for its largest and most business-critical web communities.

It is pretty remarkable," said Fernando Ruarte, co-founder, CTO and Executive Vice President of Engineering at Glam Media. "Without Gear6 Web Cache, we would have followed a different development path for caching our session data and therefore delayed our time to market by several months."

After evaluating the Gear6 Memcached distribution, Gear6 Web Cache, in its own environment, Glam decided to employ the product to address its current and future Memcached needs. Immediately, Glam was able to reduce Memcached rack space by 75 percent, protect's revenue by leveraging Gear6's fault tolerant software services and reduce management time and expense by 80 percent.

"Glam Media gets billions of hits per day so scaling dynamic applications and content in concert with the high growth is of the utmost importance for maintaining a fast web site," said Joaquin Ruiz, Executive Vice President of Products for Gear6. "Glam required a distributed caching system based on Memcached with additional features to ensure maximum scalability, continuous availability and efficient resource utilization."
