LISBON, PORTUGAL--(Marketwire - June 21, 2010) -  Signaling the importance the company places on the Portuguese market, OLX today announced the appointment of Rodrigo Ribeirão as Country Manager of OLX Portugal. In his new role, Ribeirão will be responsible for developing and implementing the company strategy in Portugal and will lead all OLX Portugal operations including both the internet classifieds site ( and the mobile classifieds site ( Ribeirão, also the Country Manager of the OLX Brazil office, aims to accelerate the growth of the already-successful OLX Portugal sites, and build a stronger relationship with its Portuguese clients.

"It's with great pleasure that I announce the addition of Rodrigo Ribeirão as the Country Manager of OLX Portugal. We see Portugal as an integral area for development and by having a local presence, we aim to understand the Portuguese consumers better and tailor our product offerings to their needs and preferences," says Alec Oxenford, Founder and Co-CEO of OLX, Inc.

One of Ribeirão's first tasks will be to decide whether those goals can be best achieved by opening an office in Lisbon. OLX currently has 130 employees in 6 offices around the world, including its most recently opened office, and Ribeirão's current base, in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Rodrigo Ribeirão says, "The challenge of leading OLX's operations in both Portugal and Brazil is an incredible opportunity. I look forward to ensuring that the Portuguese market gets great service from OLX and grows to recognize its superiority in the competitive online classifieds market."

Although Portugal is a relatively small country in population, it has contributed to the impressive growth OLX achieved worldwide in 2009, doubling its unique monthly visitors from 50 to 100 million. In Portugal, OLX has gone in one year from 4.7 million to 7.2 million visits, which demonstrates not only strong growth within Portugal itself, but also shows the outsized impact the Portuguese market has had on OLX's global success.
