GlowPoint to Explore Strategic Alternatives for Video over IP Service; Company Engages Rothschild as Financial Advisor in Light of Recent Strategic Activity in VOIP Marketplace

HILLSIDE, N.J.--(CCNMatthews - Oct 11, 2005) -

Glowpoint, Inc. (OTC: GLOW.PK) today announced that it has engaged Rothschild Inc. as its financial advisor with respect to the exploration and evaluation of strategic alternatives including investment opportunities, as well as a possible merger or sale of all or part of its business.

"The GlowPoint business model has always been and continues to be premised on GlowPoint as an independent company. With all the recent market attention focusing on voice over IP companies, we also believe it is appropriate and advantageous to explore strategic partnerships that would enable GlowPoint to maximize the full potential of its Instant Video Everywhere - or IVE solution. GlowPoint's patent pending features combine the best of the two "V's" in VOIP, video and voice over IP, and bring instant access to this global market for many potential partners," said David Trachtenberg, president and CEO of GlowPoint. "We have retained Rothschild because of its expertise and experience in telecommunications and its access to industry leaders. Our decision to explore strategic alternatives reflects management's and the Board's unified commitment to maximizing shareholder value."

GlowPoint, a leading IP-based two-way video communication service provider, is focused on making video as easy and reliable as a placing a telephone call - with anytime, anywhere face-to-face access. Since launching its service in 2000, GlowPoint has become the premier provider of high quality solutions ranging from the conference room to the desktop, and from mobile to consumer subscription plans over any type of broadband connection. The Company currently provides two-way video communication services to thousands of business and government locations across the United States and around the world. GlowPoint also provides IP-based broadcast services for leading networks and professional sports organizations.

GlowPoint has a strategic partnership with Sony Electronics for Sony to license and private label the Company's "Instant Video Everywhere"(sm) or IVE solution under the brand Sony IVE powered by GlowPoint. IVE is currently being used as Sony's video service offering for its IPELA® line of IP-based videoconferencing and broadcast hardware products. Sony also recently announced that it will be including IVE Mobile, GlowPoint's software based desktop video communications service, on its new BX models of VAIO® notebooks beginning in the fall of 2005. In addition, GlowPoint has recently announced its relationship with WebEx ®, a leading web collaboration provider, to create and market an integrated mobile visual and web collaboration product.

The Company notes that there can be no assurance that the review of strategic alternatives will result in a transaction of any nature.
