Glowpoint Offers Telepresence and Video Services for Travelers Affected by Volcanic Ash Crisis in Europe

Public Telepresence and Video Conferencing Room Locators Now Available for Those Stranded or Requiring Immediate Business-to-Business Collaboration

HILLSIDE, NJ--(Marketwire - April 19, 2010) -  Glowpoint, Inc. (OTCBB: GLOW), a carrier-grade provider of managed services for telepresence and video conferencing, today launched a website for business travelers affected by travel delays due to volcanic ash over Europe: http://www.glowpoint.com/publicrooms.asp. Due to call volumes doubling by some of its international callers, Glowpoint created the website to provide public video room locators for carrier-grade, B2B video calling, to minimize current business disruptions for any and all travel inconveniences.

According to the Associated Press (AP), hundreds of thousands of passengers have been stranded around the world since the volcano began erupting for the second time in a month. AP also reports that France says European countries can gradually resume traffic in designated "caution zones." Flights have been canceled due to concerns from aviation officials that ash could damage engines for planes flying at high altitudes.

To assist stranded travelers, Glowpoint's website features video room locators that provide travelers with reservable telepresence and video conferencing suites, through TATA or Affinity VideoNet, in major cities around the world. Virtual meetings can also be arranged should businesses not have video-enabled locations within their offices.

Three Steps for Conducting Business via Video Today:

  • Go to (http://www.glowpoint.com/publicrooms.asp) to find a room
  • Search for either a TATA Cisco TelePresence room or an Affinity suite
  • Call Glowpoint at (866) 456-9764 (U.S. Domestic) or (805) 384-4255 (International) to reserve your public video room

All services are enabled and accessible via Glowpoint's cloud-based video infrastructure, which allows registered users to reserve and facilitate immediate internal, and inter-business, video sessions at anytime. For a limited time, Glowpoint will provide free, promotional registration for access to the world's leading business-to-business video community in the cloud -- the Telepresence interExchange Network (TEN).

Glowpoint President and co-CEO Joe Laezza said, "We encourage organizations to act now and evaluate the use of video communications programs in their business practices. Aside from minimizing unforeseeable business interruptions, video communications present an economical, stress-free opportunity for organizations to increase face-time and strengthen relationships with their partners and customers."
