Gord Lambert named to group on oil sands policy

Calgary, Alberta (January 25, 2006) — Gord Lambert, Suncor Energy Inc.'s vice president, Sustainable Development, has been named by the Alberta government to an advisory group tasked with revising plans for consulting on policy principles for the oil sands area. The group will report to the Ministers of Energy, Environment and Sustainable Resource Development.

The four-person group includes representatives from the environmental community, First Nations, industry and government. The chair is Mel Knight, MLA for Grande Prairie-Smoky.

Working with the Cumulative Effects Management Association and other stakeholders, the group's mandate is to develop and recommend revised plans for consulting on oil sands policy principles. The group is due to deliver its final report to government by March 31, 2006. 

Lambert is the oil sands industry representative for the group. This appointment furthers Suncor's commitment to working with a broad group of stakeholders to promote sustainable energy development.
