Gov. Martin O'Malley Addresses Members at Tech Council of Maryland's Annual Leadership Dinner

ROCKVILLE, MD--(Marketwire - January 21, 2010) - Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley spoke last night to a capacity crowd of more than 200 technology and biotechnology leaders from across Maryland and 50 members of Maryland's General Assembly at the Tech Council of Maryland's (TCM) Annual Leadership Dinner held at the Loews Annapolis Hotel.

"The strength, vitality and resilience of Maryland's tech and biotech sectors during tough economic times is clear evidence that these businesses will be a central force in creating new jobs in the state as our economy improves," said Gov. O'Malley, while reinforcing his strong support for maintaining the Maryland Biotech Tax Credit at $6 million this year.

Held annually at the start of Maryland's General Assembly session, TCM's Leadership Dinner brings the State's elected officials together with tech and biotech business leaders to learn about TCM's annual Policy Platform.

"Each year we host this event in Annapolis to elevate the level of visibility of issues critical to the tech and biotech industries," said Renée Winsky, TCM's CEO. "These sectors are critical to Maryland's economic future. This event affords our members the opportunity to inform policymakers in Annapolis about issues that are important to them and their businesses. This year we are proud to have Gov. O'Malley as our keynote speaker."

Sponsors for this year's event were Scheer Partners, Human Genome Sciences and Life Technologies.
