Government of Canada Awards $216,000 to Campor Inc. for the Manufacture of Innovative Fuel Products

RIVIERE-DU-LOUP, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 17, 2009) - Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of State for Canada Economic Development, Bernard Genereux, the newly-elected Member of Parliament for Montmagny-L'Islet-Kamouraska-Riviere-du-Loup, today announced the awarding of $216,000 in repayable funding to the firm Campor Inc.

Awarded through the Community Adjustment Fund, an initiative of Canada's Economic Action Plan, this funding will enable the company to acquire equipment to convert municipal and septic tank mud and wastewater into combustible material intended for household furnaces and industrial boilers. In addition, part of this new production will take the form of compost for soil amendments. As a result, 100 percent of the mud residues will be converted into finished goods for sale. This project will generate an investment of $656,000 and lead to the maintenance of 24 positions and the creation of three new jobs.

"A leader in waste processing in the Bas-Saint-Laurent, Campor is constantly looking for innovative solutions to current environmental issues. Its project is an interesting approach to diversifying the regional economy, while focusing on sustainable development and the protection of our environment. For this innovative enterprise, it will be an opportunity to increase its productivity and ensure its growth, while helping revitalize various communities," explained MP Bernard Genereux.

This initiative is well in line with the objectives of the Community Adjustment Fund, a $1 billion economic stimulus measure. As an example, through this Fund, $115 million have been invested in the forestry sector to help Quebec workers and communities weather the crisis.
