Government of Canada Commemorates the National Historic Significance of the Battle of the Scheldt

MIDDELBURG, NETHERLANDS--(Marketwire - May 4, 2010) - The Honourable Jean-Pierre Blackburn, Minister of Veterans Affairs and Minister of State (Agriculture), will participate in the unveiling of Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada commemorative plaques to highlight the national historic significance of the Battle of the Scheldt.

Minister Blackburn will address those gathered, including Canadian Veterans and youth. A medal ceremony will follow shortly after.

Minister Blackburn will attend these ceremonies on behalf of the Honourable Jim Prentice, Canada's Environment Minister and Minister responsible for Parks Canada.
