VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 23, 2009) - Federal, provincial and territorial government ministers responsible for the Canadian Francophonie will be holding the 14th Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie at the Vancouver Conference & Exhibition Centre (VCEC) on September 23 and 24, 2009.

The Honourable Naomi Yamamoto, British Columbia's Minister of State for Intergovernmental Relations, will be co-chairing this meeting with the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

At the end of the Conference, the co-chairs, accompanied by ministers from other provinces and territories, will hold a press conference to be followed by a question period.

The Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie was created in 1994 and includes the federal, provincial and territorial ministers responsible for the Canadian Francophonie. The ministers meet annually to deal with various issues related to the Canadian Francophonie, to provide direction for intergovernmental cooperation and to perform a unifying role in support of the Canadian Francophonie.
