Government of Canada Announces New Regional Office in Southwestern Ontario

KITCHENER, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 21, 2010) - The Honourable Diane Finley, Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Regional Minister for Southwestern Ontario, today announced a new Ministers' Regional Office (MRO) in Kitchener, Ontario. The office supports the working needs of Ministers and Government officials when conducting government business outside the National Capital Region.

"As our Government continues to implement our Economic Action Plan, it's more important than ever that we keep in touch with the communities we serve," said Minister Finley. "The location in Kitchener will allow me and my colleagues to meet locally with stakeholders, non-governmental organizations, and other levels of government as we move forward with the Government's agenda."

There are 13 MROs located across the country. Another Ontario office is situated in downtown Toronto.

The Ministers' Regional Offices program has been operational since 1986 and is coordinated by Public Works and Government Services Canada.
