Government of Canada Supports the Office de Tourisme de Lotbiniere

SAINTE-CROIX, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Sept. 22, 2009) - On behalf of the Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, Jacques Gourde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Public Works and Government Services and to the Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament (Lotbiniere-Chutes-de-la-Chaudiere), today announced funding for the Office de tourisme de Lotbiniere for the 8th edition of its Balades d'automne en Lotbiniere, which will be held on October 3 and 4, 2009.

The 2009 Ballades d'automne en Lotbiniere will feature a myriad of activities. The municipalities of the Chaudiere-Appalaches region will offer citizens and visitors guided bus tours, cycling tours, artistic and historical performances, visits to the studios of artists and artisans, local architectural tours, and more.

"Our Government is pleased to support the Ballades d'automne en Lotbiniere," said Minister Moore. "The Office de tourisme de Lotbiniere makes vital tools available to local tourism businesses so they can launch promising initiatives that contribute to economic growth. The activities it offers as part of the Ballades d'automne provide magical moments for residents and visitors alike."

"The Ballades d'automne offers many wonderful activities to residents of the Chaudiere-Appalaches region and to everyone who visits the area," said Mr. Gourde. "The Office de tourisme de Lotbiniere offers important support to our tourism industry and to the promotion of our history and culture."

"This funding from Canadian Heritage allows us to provide participants with quality event programming. It also enables us to promote culture. Thank you, Government of Canada!" said Judith Leathead, Tourism Development Agent for the CLD de Lotbiniere.

The Office de tourisme de Lotbiniere is an umbrella service organization with a mandate to stimulate and develop the tourism sector. It provides support and other services to local tourism businesses dedicated to leisure, culture, and agri-tourism. It also assists with the projects of participating members involved in tourism.

The Government of Canada has provided funding of $3,100 through the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage (http://www.pch.gc.ca/pgm/dcap-bcah/index-eng.cfm) program of the Department of Canadian Heritage. This program provides Canadians with more opportunities to take part in activities that present local arts and culture and celebrate local history and heritage.
